This policy applies to the LumaRead (轻源阅读) app. LumaRead focuses on local reading, and you do not need an app account to read local books. The sections below explain data handling for online catalogues, cloud sync, advertising, and system text-to-speech.
01 Local reading data
To provide bookshelf management, reading position restoration, bookmarks, annotations, reading statistics, and personal preferences, the app stores your imported books and covers, book information, reading positions, bookmarks and notes, reading time, and settings on your device.
This data is stored locally by default. Using local reading features does not upload your book contents, notes, or reading history to developer-operated servers. If you choose to use cloud sync, export backups, or use system text-to-speech, the relevant data is handled as described below.
02 Network access & sync
Online catalogues (OPDS). When you browse, search for, or download books, the app connects to the catalogue server you select. That server receives information needed to fulfil the request, such as your IP address, search terms, and requested book URLs. Its handling of this information is governed by the service provider’s policy.
WebDAV cloud sync. Only when you configure and use sync does the app transfer sync data, including book files, book information, reading positions, and annotations, to your designated server. The server address, username, and password are saved in platform secure storage on your device. Account credentials are excluded from local backups exported by the app. Use a trusted service and prefer HTTPS addresses; HTTP connections do not encrypt data in transit.
Backups and text-to-speech. Backups you export may contain books, notes, reading history, and settings. Please keep them secure. When you use read-aloud, the text to be spoken is passed to your device’s text-to-speech service. Network use and text handling depend on your selected speech engine and its settings.
03 Advertising
The app integrates Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) to display ads. The advertising SDK may collect or share IP addresses, device or advertising identifiers, app and ad interaction information, and diagnostic information for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention. IP addresses may also be used to infer approximate location. Actual processing depends on the platform, SDK version, ad configuration, and your privacy choices.
You can manage advertising identifiers and personalised advertising options in your device’s privacy or advertising settings. Where applicable for your region and app version, the app presents advertising consent prompts. When an ad privacy options entry appears in the app’s settings, you can use it to change your choices.
For information about third-party data handling, see the Google Privacy Policy, Google advertising information, and Google Mobile Ads data disclosure.
04 Device permissions
When importing books, replacing covers, or importing or exporting backups, the app uses the system file picker to access files you select. Network access is used for online catalogues, downloads, cloud sync you configure, and advertising. Read-aloud uses system text-to-speech and does not require recording your voice.
You can manage app permissions in system settings. Denying access may prevent the corresponding feature from working.
05 Manage & delete data
You can manage your bookshelf, bookmarks, and notes in the app, or export a local backup. You can also remove local app data using your system’s clear-data or uninstall functions; the scope depends on your operating system. Original files from before import, exported backups, and system backups may remain and need to be managed separately.
Deleting data locally does not automatically delete copies on your WebDAV server. To remove cloud data, delete the relevant files through your server or service’s management interface and manage any existing backups. Platform secure storage may retain credentials after uninstalling; you can remove your cloud account configuration in the app before uninstalling.
Local data is used for the relevant features while you retain the app’s data. Retention periods for third-party servers and advertising services are determined by those providers. For other requests to access, correct, or delete information, contact us at the email address below.
06 Children’s privacy
Minors should use the app and online services with guidance from a parent or guardian. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor’s personal information has been handled improperly while using this app, please contact us so we can investigate and address the issue.
07 Policy updates
We will update this policy when app features or data handling practices change and revise the date at the top of this page. We will provide appropriate notice of significant changes.
